I
was flown in from Paris for the shoot and our model Sophie,
although she is French, flew in from New York, where she was based.
As I had been living in Paris already for about a year and a half,
it was always a treat to get in to London, and to speak some English.
A nice confluence of events transpired that week. As it happened,
my parents were traveling through London, and we were able to get
together for dinner and the show "Cats", which was very
big then. It had not been to Broadway yet.
We
had a lovely shoot, (lovely is a very English word and very apropos.)
I had the privilege to work several times with the great fashion
editor Sheila Whetton. She had worked with virtually every
great fashion photographer of the 20th Century, and had seen it
all. What a joy to work with someone of that stature, and
to have her on your team. Because when you are doing these
stories, its teamwork. Barbara Sansone did a lovely job with
the make-up.
