About the photographer . .
One of the recurring themes, in Steve Landis's fashion photography, has been movement shots.  This influence in his work can be traced to two of his favorite photographers, whose work he admired from early on; the famous photographers Arthur Elgort and Richard Avedon.  These two fashion photographers often would have models, leaping, dancing, jumping through their photos.  Steve especially likes to get male models jumping around.  Male models can sometimes get too serious, and too poesy.  Giving models an action to do gets them to forget about posing.  He feels this can create a fun, energetic atmosphere within the photo shoot and also help to achieve a dynamic tension within the composition.
